Performance Training in Nevada

Performance training at ProKinetic is coaching, not treatment. It is for the patient who is not in crisis but is not moving the way they want to either — the lifter whose shoulder complains on every overhead press, the runner whose hip tightens up at mile three, the parent who wants to keep playing without paying for it the next morning. Dr. Grant Hartman is a former collegiate track athlete and a national competitor in Strongman and Olympic weightlifting. That background is the whole point: he has spent years under heavy loads learning what good mechanics feel like and what happens when they slip. Sessions are built on that experience, not on a generic template.

How Performance Training works at ProKinetic

How it works

What to expect with performance training

  1. Step 1

    Movement screen

We watch you squat, hinge, press, pull, and rotate, and note where range of motion, stability, or control runs out. This tells us which limitation is driving the complaint instead of guessing from where it hurts.

  2. Step 2

    Targeted coaching

You get hands-on cueing through the specific positions your screen flagged — bracing, foot pressure, bar path, hip and shoulder mechanics — until the correct pattern is something you can reproduce on your own.

  3. Step 3

A plan you can train on

You leave with a short list of what to prioritize, what to load, and what to back off, sized to your actual training week. We adjust it as your screen changes.

Why patients choose it

The basics

About performance training

Most nagging athletic problems are not a mystery injury. They are a movement pattern repeated a few thousand times. A hip that will not extend gets compensated for by the low back. A shoulder blade that does not rotate properly turns every press into an impingement. The tissue that hurts is usually the one paying for a limitation somewhere else in the chain.

That is why performance training starts with a screen rather than a workout. Once we can see where the restriction actually lives, the coaching becomes specific — which positions to own, how to load them, and what to stop doing. Patients who pair this with adjustments tend to hold their corrections far longer, because the mechanics that caused the problem are being retrained rather than repeatedly relieved.

Performance Training at ProKinetic in Nevada

What performance training is

Performance training at ProKinetic is a 30-minute, one-on-one session focused on how you move. It is not an adjustment, and it is not a workout we put you through to make you tired. It is coaching — a structured look at your mechanics, followed by specific instruction on how to change them.

The premise is simple. Pain and inefficiency usually trace back to a position your body cannot get into, or cannot control once it gets there. Find that, coach it, load it correctly, and the complaint downstream often takes care of itself.

This is a self-pay service rather than a medical treatment. If what you are dealing with needs a diagnosis, we will examine you first — coaching is not a substitute for figuring out what is actually wrong.

Who it is for

Performance training tends to fit three kinds of people:

  • Lifters and competitive athletes who want more out of a squat, press, or pull and keep running into the same sticking point or the same irritated joint.
  • Active adults — runners, golfers, cyclists, weekend athletes — with a recurring complaint that flares whenever they ramp up.
  • Patients already under care who want the corrections from their adjustments to hold, instead of returning with the same pattern every few weeks.

Common things we work around:

  • Sports injuries — returning to full training without re-aggravating the same tissue
  • Overuse injuries — the repeated pattern behind a chronic strain, not just the sore spot
  • Poor posture — desk-driven restriction that shows up the moment you load a movement

What a session looks like

You will move. Expect to squat, hinge, press, and rotate while Dr. Grant watches where your range, stability, or control gives out. He is not looking for textbook perfection — he is looking for the specific link in the chain that is forcing something else to compensate.

From there the session turns into coaching. You will get hands-on cueing through the positions your screen flagged: how to brace, where to put pressure through your foot, how the ribs and hips stack, what the bar path should feel like. The goal is that you can reproduce the correct pattern without him standing there.

You leave with a short, specific list — what to prioritize, what to load, what to stop doing for now — sized to the training week you actually have, not an ideal one.

Why ProKinetic

Plenty of places will hand you a corrective exercise sheet. What is harder to find is coaching from someone who has been under the bar.

Dr. Grant Hartman is a former collegiate track athlete who has competed nationally in both Strongman and Olympic weightlifting, with a clinical focus on biomechanics, power development, and injury prevention. Dr. Heather Davis-Hartman holds a Master of Science in Sports Science and Rehabilitation and competed as a collegiate softball player and professional bodybuilder. Between them, this is a practice that understands training from the inside.

That matters because coaching credibility is specific. Knowing the anatomy of a shoulder is one thing; knowing what a heavy jerk feels like when the shoulder is not cooperating is another. You get both here.

Performance Training FAQ

Still have questions? Contact us — we're happy to help.

What is performance training at a chiropractic office?+

It is one-on-one movement coaching rather than a treatment visit. Dr. Grant screens how you move, identifies the restriction or control problem driving your complaint, and coaches you through the positions and loading patterns that fix it. Think of it as the training-side companion to your care in the office.

Do I have to be an athlete?+

No. Competitive athletes use it, but so do people who simply want to keep lifting, running, golfing, or playing with their kids without a recurring flare-up. If you have a body and you use it, the screen has something to tell you.

How is this different from physical therapy?+

There is real overlap in the tools. The difference is the starting point — performance training assumes you are already functional and want to raise your ceiling or remove a specific limitation, rather than rehabilitating you back to baseline after an injury or surgery.

How long is a session and what should I bring?+

Sessions are 30 minutes. Wear clothes you can actually move in and bring shoes you train in. If your issue shows up in a specific lift or activity, be ready to describe or demonstrate it.

Do I need to be a current patient first?+

Not necessarily, but if you are dealing with active pain we will usually want to examine you first, since pain that needs a diagnosis should not be coached around. You can book performance training directly, and if the exam changes the plan we will tell you.

Can I combine performance training with adjustments?+

That is the most common way patients use it, and it is where we see the best results. Adjustments and soft-tissue work restore motion; the coaching teaches your body to keep it. The two reinforce each other.

Will you write my whole training program?+

Sessions focus on mechanics and the specific limitations your screen finds, plus what to prioritize in your training week. If you want a fully periodized program, say so at your session and Dr. Grant will tell you honestly whether that is something to build here.

Is performance training covered by insurance?+

Generally no, since it is coaching rather than a billable treatment. It is a straightforward self-pay service — we will tell you the cost up front with no surprises.
